Makhachkala, May 19, 2014. On May 18, on the International Museum Day, the Derbent museum-reserve hosted an exhibition and fair of Daghestan folk crafts as part of celebrating the Year of Russian Culture, a source in the museum told RIA "Daghestan".

The exhibition attracted over 3,000 guests to the Naryn-Kala fortress. Ancient crafts pieces looked really harmonious on the background of the ancient citadel. Each Daghestan region presented their products by their masters at the makeshift fair sites. Here, guests could clearly see the simple elegance and Sulivkent and Balkhar pottery, the grace of Untsukul notching, and the variety of multicolored carpets fr om South Daghestan. Young artists from the Derbent Region Art School brought their easels for an ad-hoc master class, and famous gunsmiths from Kizlyar demonstrated the magic of their weapons.

Each fair site attracted lots of spectators. Craftsmen gladly showed the manufacturing process enthralling the guests. Artists from local theaters also set up their sites accompanying the festivity with singing and dancing. There were also a few points along the tourist route through the citadel wh ere visitors were treated to free delicious tea with oriental sweets and the fragrant Derbent pilaf.
