Daghestan festival to bring together 13 Russian theaters from North Caucasus republics and Black Sea and Caspian countries

Makhachkala, September 13 /RIA "Dagestan" / The 6th international Daghestan festival will bring together 13 Russian theaters fr om North Caucasus republics and the Black Sea and Caspian bordering countries wh ere for 8 days, spectators will see 15 theatre performances, a source in the Daghestan ministry of culture informed RIA "Dagestan".

The large-scale theatrical forum scheduled to run September 27 to October 5 will be taking place on the stage of the Bolshoi and Maly halls of the Daghestan’s Gorky Russian Drama Theatre. The festival aims at emphasizing the great unifying role of the Russian culture in the history of the theatre arts in Russian regions and foreign countries. At the end of the festival, all participants are awarded statuettes and diplomas.

This year’s participants are: the Tbilisi Griboyedov State Academic Russian Drama Theatre, Honored Artist of the Russian Tovstonogov State Academic Drama Theatre M. Morozov, the Stoyanov Drama Theatre (Bulgaria), the Vakhtangov Academic Russian Theatre (Vladikavkaz), the Gorky State Academic Russian Drama Theatre (Kazakhstan), the Karachay-Cherkessia Russian Drama and Comedy Theatre, the Lermontov State Russian Drama Theatre (Chechnya), the Russian State Music and Drama Theatre (Ingushetia), the "Russian Stage" theater (Germany), the Moscow Theatre Centre "Cherry Orchard", and 3 theater Daghestan theatres: the Gorky Russian Drama Theatre, the Kapiev Lak State Music and Drama Theatre, and the Puppet Theatre.

The idea of the festival was inspired by Honored Artist of Russia Skandarbek Tulparov in 2007. The festival is held every other year. 17 Russian theaters have participated in the festival, including the ones from Kazakhstan, Georgia, Germany, Bulgaria, Moscow, and St. Petersburg.
