Dagestan United Museum replenishes fund with new exhibit

Makhachkala, June 3, 2015. At the end of major repairs of the main building, the visitors to Dagestan State United Historical and Architectural Museum will see a new exhibit - stuffed wolf howling at the sky. The exhibit has been donated to the museum by the chairman of Dagestan Society of Fishers and Hunters Zavurbek Vagidov.

"It is dedicated to the memory of a friend, colleague, scientist, public and political figure, a defender of the environment and natural resources, a single biologist and expert in gamekeeping in Dagestan for about 20 years, permanent chairman of the Dagestan society of hunters and anglers Sergei Plaksa. The trophy was got on November 14, 2013 - the day when Sergei left this world"- Vagidov said handing the exhibit over to the director general of the museum Tamerlan Gajiyev.

The stuffed wolf was made by an international taxidermist Valery Umantsev fr om Krasnodar. An experienced expert in his field has created a true masterpiece of taxidermy art, "breathing in" new life into the wolf.

The funds of Dagestan State United Historical and Architectural Museum consists of 16 separate storage facilities, wh ere more than 164 thousand units are preserved. The Nature Department takes an important place uniting more than 700 items - stuffed animals, reptiles, fishes, birds, dryads and other collections of fauna and nature of Dagestan.
