Makhachkala, July 14, 2015. Dagestan puppeteers took part in the International Theatre Festival in Lithuania, the press-service of Dagestan ministry of culture reports.

The staff of Dagestan Puppet Theatre participated in the XVIII International Theatre Festival «Sermuksnis-2015", that took place in Klaipeda on July 4-6. The program of theater festival included grotesque theatrical performances, offbeat circus, dance acts and phantasmagoric improvisations.
The art group "Fish Eye", well known all over the world, set the tone for the theater and circus art performances. In the ordinary cultural life of the city, the group is the mainspring of everything progressive and avant-garde.

The amateurs of modern theatrical art were pleased to get familiarized with the "Theater troupe-2000" from France, which presented a performance "Harold and Maude" written by K. Higgins, the State Youth Drama Theatre from Chisinau (Moldova) with its "From the Rose Street", the theatrical group "Mr. Peugeot's Wandering Dolls " from St. Petersburg and the theater "Act" from Warsaw. The other participants of the festival represented the theater, choral, dance and circus groups of the city of Kaunas and Klaipeda.

Dagestan Puppet Theatre presented one of its best performances - "Mystery of peach pits" by Shakhrizat Mallaeva.

"The play is a holistic and very philosophical performance full of magic dramatic work, which does not quite fit into the format of the street theater festival.

However, to everyone's surprise, the spectators so vibrantly and enthusiastically accepted the performance of Dagestan puppeteers that it has become clear – the art has no a scenic limitation and does not need to be translated. It exists, regardless to any sanctions. The art maintains friendship among the different ethnic groups of people with different religions and different mentalities. It serves as a bridge between the peoples in the cruel world, being an important factor in combating against international terrorism. These cultural festivals unquestionably promote harmonization of interethnic relations and overcome mutual distrust, "- the spokesperson concluded.
