Makhachkala, March 11, 2016. On March 9, Dagestan State Opera and Ballet Theatre presented choreographic drama in two acts "Imam Shamil", the Ministry of Culture RD reports.

The show was dedicated to the anniversary of the Honored Artist of Russia, the People's Artist of Dagestan, choreographer, the artistic director of the ballet troupe of Dagestan State Opera and Ballet Theatre Musa Ozdoev, who staged and directed the ballet using the music of the well-known Dagestan composer Murad Kazhlaev.

Musa Ozdoev is the first Ingush ballet dancer and choreographer of modern and classical dance. His career is fruitful and his contribution to the development of the national choreography and Russian ballet is significant. His creative activity in Dagestan started in July 2003 with the premiere of the first Dagestani national contemporary ballet "Mountain Girl" composed of Murad Kazhlaev’s music and Rasul Gamzatov’s poem.

Musa Ozdoev is the founder of the art ballet in Dagestan. In 2006, he headed the ballet troupe of Dagestan State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Within several years Ozdoev staged performances in various musical genres and forms pursuing his own vision on ballet art in Dagestan.
