Dagestan ensemble "Druzhba" wins Grand Prix of X festival-competition in St. Petersburg

Makhachkala, November 28, 2016. Dagestan dance ensemble "Druzhba" obtained the Grand Prix of the X open festival-competition of amateur folk art "Under One Sky", taken place in St. Petersburg on November 26-27, the press service of the Dagestan Permanent Mission informs.

The event was held in the Vasileostrovsky District Children's Center within the framework of the state program "Creation of conditions for the social consensus in St. Petersburg".

The festival was initiated by the municipal administration, the Children's Center and the House of Nationalities. As to the chairman of the jury, director Galina Suvorova-Ville, the festival aimed to identify new creative teams, to promote multinational creative groups, to stimulate the development of folk art, to improve performance culture of participants and to raise true Russian patriotism. The representatives of 18 St. Petersburg’s districts, as well as several cities of Leningrad region - about 200 amateur groups, more than 2 thousand people attended the event.

The two-day competition was held in three categories: folk song and dance, creative kaleidoscope - ritual performances, folk music and the theatrical stylization. As to Galina Suvorova-Ville, every team and soloist tried to demonstrate the high level of training, to present vivid artistic images and folk costumes. "The members of the jury evaluated the performances for their expressiveness, emotionality, costume decoration and the originality. In short, they strictly selected the best performers. Among the vivid performances, we preferred the dance of Dagestan ensemble "Druzhba"- Suvorova-Ville concluded.

The member of the Russian creative union of the creative workers and choreographer of the highest category Vladimir Bulavin praised Dagestani creative team: "Through its performances, the ensemble “Druzhba" made us feel the energetic and emotional spirit of highlanders. I personally got a good supply of energy and aesthetic pleasure. The jury's decision to give the diploma and the Grand Prix in the nomination "Folk dance" to the ensemble " Druzhba " was unanimous".
