Dagestan artists dedicate exhibition to Year of Literature

Makhachkala, December 15, 2015. "World of Poetry" exhibition dedicated to Year of Literature has kicked off today in the Exhibition Hall of the Artists' Union of Dagestan in Makhachkala. The exhibition includes 118 paintings, drawings, sculpture, arts and crafts of Dagestan artists.

The portraits of well-known poets and writers are taking special place in the exhibition. According to director of the Exhibition Hall Amirkhan Magomedov the exhibition presented the works of young artists, students  and the artists of the older generation.

"They are works by the students and graduates of art-graphic faculty of Dagestan State Pedagogical University and Dagestan Art College named after Jamal.

They, teaching in schools, contribute to the development of art in Dagestan. Working harder on themselves, Dagestani artists demonstrate their view about the world, their attitude. It is important to give them an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity"- Magomedov noted.

The head of the Artists' Union of Dagestan, the Honored Artist of Russia, Kurbanali Magomedov pointed out that the Year of Literature was very fruitful in terms of cooperation between the Artists' Union and the Writers’ Union of Dagestan:

"Here, we held meetings with writers, poets, musicians. This cooperation is continued for a long time."

It should be noted that the "World of Poetry" exhibition will last until the end of January 2016.
