Makhachkala, November 20, 2014. On November 17, the Brandt Brass Ensemble and the Moscow Jazz Band performed on the stage of the Kumyk Theater within the 2nd International Brass Band Festival "Dagestani fanfare" in Makhachkala, Dagestan ministry of culture told RIA "Dagestan".
The Brandt Brass Ensemble is well known in the republic – the musicians are true virtuosos. But the Moscow Jazz Band’s visit was a real surprise for the audience, although the 35-year old band is no stranger to Dagestan, either.
The "Dagestan fanfare" festival project is organized by the Muradov Dagestan State Philharmonic with support of Dagestani Head, the Russian Ministry of Culture, and Dagestan ministry of culture. It started July 19 when the Model Orchestra of the Azerbaijani State Border Service performed on the summer stage of Dagestan State Philharmonic. July 26, on the Russian Constitution Day, the Russian military brass band of the FSS Border Control Republic in Dagestan also performed in Makhachkala as part of the festival.
The festival is held seasonally, i.e. it will end early summer of 2015. It welcomes the best musicians and winners of international awards.
