Makhachkala, April 20, 2015. Acting Dagestan minister of communications Yussuf Mallamagomedov participates in the 3rd international forum "Integration of Geospace - Future of Information Technology" running April 15-17 in Moscow. The forum is about new technologies, projects, and prospects for developing geographic information industry.

Geoinformation technology is rapidly gaining new application areas. One of the modern trends is a huge increase in the volume of data processed and analyzed for making effective decisions on an on-going basis. We need high-quality and relevant spatial information to manage geographically distributed objects such as a whole state, a large region, a transnational corporation, an economic sector, a small town, a mining enterprise, or a farm.

Huge blocks of such information are provided by the remote Earth sensing satellite constellation, which is constantly growing and improving. Nowadays, the use of such data becomes ever more relevant and sometimes necessary in virtually all sectors.

The main topics discussed at the forum are: «Bigdata – specifics of collection, storage and processing", "Ways to integrate geospatial data retrieved from different sources", "Regional spatial data sets - a unique ready-to-use photomap of the region", "Federal and regional GIS’s [geo-informational systems] – problems and thematic orientation", "Municipal GIS’s – information support of local government", and "GIS’s for oil and gas industry, agriculture and forestry – best experiences".
