Makhachkala, April 7, 2017. Within the next two years, two greenhouse complexes will be built in the villages of Shamkhal-Termen and Leninkent in the suburbs of Makhachkala as part of the state program for the development of the North Caucasian Federal District till 2025.

According to the press service of the Northern Caucasus Development Corporation, the implementation of projects is important for the Republic of Dagestan and Russia as a whole, as it is expected to contribute to ensuring food security and supporting import substitution.

"Dagestan has good potential for the development of the agro-industrial complex. There are all the conditions for the production of high-quality environmentally friendly products in the republic, including greenhouse vegetables, most of which Russia is still importing. The commissioning of modern greenhouse complexes will reduce dependence on imports, supply the domestic market with Russian greenhouse vegetables, which is significant for ensuring food security in the region and the country as a whole" – the Minister of the Russian Federation for Affairs of the Northern Caucasus, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the JSC "Corporation for the Development of the Norternh Caucasus" Odes Baysultanov said.

It should be noted that the project in the village of Shamkhal-Termen will be implemented by the Yugagroholding, JSC. The project cost is estimated at 528 million rubles. The complex will create more than 50 jobs.

In the settlement of Leninkent, the "Agromir" JSC intends to build the second greenhouse complex on 5 hectares for the year-round cultivation of tomatoes and other vegetable crops. The project's capacity is over 2 thousand 700 tons of vegetables per year. It is planned to create 150 jobs. The project cost makes 385 million rubles.
