Twenty livestock farms to be built in Dagestan in 2018

Makhachkala, January 12, 2018. Twenty farms, designed for 15 thousand head of cattle, will be built and reconstructed in Dagestan in 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic reported on Thursday.

"The work focused on increasing livestock production will be continued in 2018. In particular, it is planned to complete the construction and reconstruction of 20 dairy farms for 15 thousand animals" the Ministry’s press release runs.

Besides, seven feeding grounds for 1.2 thousand heads of cattle and 30 thousand sheep, five shops for processing milk and dairy products with a total capacity of more than 10 thousand tons per year and three meat processing shops with a capacity of 3 thousand tons per year as well as five poultry farms will be put into operation in the region.

"More than 20 cattle-breeding farms for 15 thousand animals had already been put into operation in Dagestan in 2017. There are more than 2,7 thousand dairy farms in the republic" - the ministry official said.
