The Turkish company Campak is ready to invest in the waste processing industry in Dagestan, the owner of the company, Abdulkadir Turan said acting at a meeting with the head of the Dagestan government, Abdulpatakh Amirkhanov on February 12 in Makhachkala.

“In Dagestan, it is necessary to develop the correct system of waste management. This issue requires an integrated approach. Our company has successful experience in different countries, for example, in Morocco and Pakistan, where the situation with solid wastes was even more difficult than in Dagestan” - Turan said.

Turan added that the representatives of the company had already visited Dagestan and conducted a preliminary analysis of situation with waste management in the region. In turn, Amirkhanov said that the main problem of the industry is the timely removal and delivery of waste to landfills, of which there are only two in the republic.

Currently, the work is underway to organize a waste transfer station, where the waste will be compressed for a more compact and efficient transportation. Besides, as to Amirkhanov, there are no waste processing plants in Dagestan. The top official called to build them next to landfills. Amirkhanov also added that the government of Dagestan is ready to cooperate and support real proposals.
