Low prices contributed to 18% of tourists choosing Dagestan over Sochi this summer, Alexan Mkrtchyan, the vice president of the Travel Agencies Alliance (TAA) says. Back in April 2022 the expert predicted an outflow of potential visitors of Sochi to Dagestan. After all, the journey to Dagestan is 30% cheaper than to the Olympic capital.

"The outflow of tourists from Sochi to Dagestan this season amounted to 18%. People were primarily driven away by high prices" Mkrtchyan is quoted as saying. The affordable airport and the warm Caspian Sea were also motivating factors in favour of a holiday in the republic" - the TAA Vice President added.
