The area of Russia's largest hazelnut orchard in Suleyman-Stal district, Dagestan, has increased up to 2,000 hectares in 2022. It is twice more than in 2021.

A special center for the development of horticulture and advanced agrarian technologies will be created in the locality to attract specialists to the enterprise, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food reports.

"For present, the area of orchards, planted by the "Polosa" LLC is almost 1.6 thousand hectares. Taking into account the autumn planting the total area reaches 2.6 thousand hectares. Of these, more than 2 thousand hectares are the hazelnut orchard alone" - the first deputy minister of agriculture and food of the Republic of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov says.

The development the hazelnut orchard in Suleiman-Stal district of Dagestan started in the fall of 2019, when the first 150 hectares were planted.
