Makhachkala, September 8, 2015. The RusHydro PJSC and the South Korean Water Resources Corporation “K-water” have signed an agreement in the field of hydropower and water resources management.

As it was reported, the document was signed within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF), held in Vladivostok on September 3-5.
The parties have agreed to launch a "pilot project" for the purpose of developing the hydropower potential in Dagestan. It is planned to analyze the current situation in the electricity sector of Dagestan, to develop financial and economic models of HPP taking into account its efficiency and to optimize the cost of construction based on modern design techniques.

Having confirmed the economic efficiency of hydropower facilities and made a positive decision on the further implementation of projects, RusHydro and «K-water» would attach all the necessary efforts to move to the next stage – the technical and economic study of the project and its basic engineering. The parties will also launch special procedures aimed at obtaining approval from the relevant government authorities and organizations.

To coordinate the activities of engineering and design organizations involved in the study and evaluation of the hydropower potential of Dagestan, the parties will establish a working group.

According to the deputy head of the State Agency for Energy RD Magdi Gitinov, there are also specific developments and plans for the construction of 30 small hydroelectric power stations in the basins of the rivers Samur and Sulak in Dagestan.
