Makhachkala, July 27, 2019. The Head of the republic, Vladimir Vasilyev, expressed confidence that the passenger traffic in the airport of Makhachkala (Uytash) will demonstrate steady growth by achieving the figure of 1.5 million people.

Last Thursday, during the meeting of collegium of the republic’s prosecutor’s office following the results of work in the first half of 2019, the region governor noted the steady increase of passenger traffic in Dagestan airport.

Last year the passenger traffic amounted to a record number of 1.29 million people in history, exceeding the planned volume by 200 thousand people. This year it is expected that the traffic will make 1.5 million people. The airport has two terminals - international and domestic. The international terminal is often used to serve passengers on domestic flights. The capacity of the terminals is, respectively, 60 and 200 passengers per hour. The airport in Makhachkala is the only airport in Dagestan operating the routes to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Surgut, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Krasnodar, the cities of Kazakhstan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
