The renewal of food products embargo provides an excellent opportunity to participate in solving the problems of Dagestan import substitution, the Head of the republic Ramazan Abdulatipov said. "Dagestan possesses a great potential, which will give us an opportunity to find its niche in agricultural production, providing agricultural products not only for Dagestanis but the Russians in other regions of the country".

The Head of the region also noted that more than 21 thousand hectares of fruit-bearing orchards of intensive type had been laid in the past four years in Dagestan. By 2020 it is planned to double the area of perennial gardens and to increase the gross yield of fruit and berries.
