President of Azerbaijan visits Dagestan pavilion at tourist exhibition in Baku

Makhachkala, April 6, 2017. Today, April 6, the Azerbaijan International Tourism and Travel Exhibition "AITF 2017" with the participation of almost 300 companies from 22 countries has kicked off in Baku. The delegation of Dagestan is headed by the Minister of Tourism and Folk Arts of the Republic Rabiyat Zakavova. The regional exposition promotes popular touristic routes in the republic, the investment potential and folk art crafts.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev together with the first Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva visited the exhibition "Tourism and Travel" in the Expo Center in Baku. Making a tour across the pavilions, Ilham Aliyev paid attention to Dagestan stand. Rabiyat Zakavova told about the tourist routes that connect Dagestan and Azerbaijan and the possible exchange of tourists. Besides, the President of Azerbaijan has got familiarized with the unique folk art handicrafts from Dagestan.

Within the framework of the exhibition, officials of Dagestan Tourism Ministry intend to hold a series of meetings and negotiations with Azerbaijani counterparts to discuss the development of joint international projects, including a through tourist route within the framework of the International Historical and Cultural Project "The Great Silk Road", the cultural and educational tourist route "Alexander Dumas in the Caucasus" etc.

The XVI Azerbaijan International Tourism and Travel Exhibition "AITF 2017" will be held until April 8.
