Makhachkala, February 4, 2018. Dagestan vine growers will receive approx. 580 million rubles of subsidies from the federal budget for the development of the industry.

RUR 100 million will be directed to maintain grapes processing sector. The remaining 480 million rubles will be spent to plant new vineyards in the republic. Traditionally, the grapes and wine from Dagestani producers are well-known for high quality and taste. In 2017 the yield record was broken - for the first time since 1991: from 18,000 hectares of vineyards, more than 168 tons of agricultural products were harvested. This is almost 20 tons more than the crop of 2016.

In 2018 another 1,500 hectares of new vineyards will planted in the republic - almost the same as last year. To date, the Republic of Dagestan ranks second in Russia in the gross harvest of grapes, being inferior to only the vine-growers of Kuban region.
