Night express to link Makhachkala and Baku

Makhachkala, May 25, 2019. According to the press service of the republican government, on May 24, the Head of Dagestan Vladimir Vasilyev and the first deputy Prime Minister Gadzhimagomed Guseynov met with Vladimir Pyastolov, the director of the North Caucasian Railways JSC.

The parties considered the prospects for the development of rail transportation. The particular attention was paid to implementation of the agreement between Dagestan government and the Russian Railways JSC on cooperation in the field of railway transport. The document was signed in Sochi during the Russian Investment Forum - 2019.

The meeting participants also discussed the problems associated with the modernization of railway infrastructure for the organization of transit traffic, the development of passenger traffic and ensuring transport security. The parties noted that the cooperation had positive effect on the increase in passenger traffic in the suburban traffic, railway cargo shipping in the country, compared with 2018.

The top officials underlined the importance of providing the employees of structural units of the Russian Railways operating on the territory of Dagestan with stable wages and guaranteed social package. At the same time, the parties projected an increase in the number of jobs while implementing the plan of joint activities.

As for the passenger service, the parties agreed on the establishment of the new international route Makhachkala – Baku serviced by the night express. The train with new comfortable wagons functioning on a convenient schedule will be launched in autumn 2019.
