The development of wine industry in Dagestan is one of the priorities for the regional authorities, as follows from the statement of Dagestani Head Sergei Melikov. According to the top official, the republic may well replace foreign brands in wine production that left the Russian Federation and successfully compete with the products of the Crimea and Krasnodar regions. Melikov noted that the authorities hope to partially solve the problem of unemployment by creating jobs, as well as obtain additional funds for the implementation of social programs through the wine industry development. The authorities have set a goal to bring the area of vineyards up to 35 thousand hectares in the coming years.
