Makhachkala, June 18, 2014. Daghestan is in the list of 17 pilot regions to test and modernize mechanisms for managing urban agglomerations’ development in Russia, said Daghestan Minister of construction Mussa Mussayev yesterday in a press conference at RIA "Daghestan".

Mussaev added that the Makhachkala-Kaspiysk agglomeration, which is to date de facto established, is going to be one of the pilot projects of the Russian ministry of regional development. "We just need to legally frame it," he said and added that today’s engineering infrastructure of the city cannot fully complete the tasks set. In his opinion, developing transport infrastructure and utilities is a must.

The agglomeration is going to allow for extended opportunities to use a comprehensive approach to the area development; it will help enhance population’s comfort and safety and solve the transport, environmental and other problems, as said by experts. The agglomeration also ought to help avoid situations when municipalities solve development issues independently.
