Makhachkala Airport plans to double major economic indicators by 2025

Makhachkala, April 11, 2016. Makhachkala Airport plans to double major economic indicators by 2025, the top manager of the company Arsen Pirmagomedov says.

According to Pirmagomedov, the possibility of improving the economic indicators arise fr om the implementation of the second phase of reconstruction of the airport. Thus, it is planned to increase the transit of passengers through the terminal from the current 200 up to 500 passengers per hour for the domestic flights in 2025.

"The same applies to the international flights terminal, wh ere it is planned to increase the transit up to 150 passengers per hour. The growth of passenger traffic is also expected through the VIP- hall," - Pirmagomedov said.

Besides, the total area of the airport has doubled from 5,7 thousands sq. m up to 11 thousands sq. m. By the results of 2015, the passenger traffic in Makhachkala International Airport increased by 37 percent and amounted to more than 700 thousands passengers. It has become possible due to the extension and reconstruction of the runway. This brought new air companies to Dagestan market and allowed to accept new types of aircrafts.

On the first stage of reconstruction, the specialists gentrified the airport forecourt, installed on-site modular boiler, built fire tanks, firefighting pump station, new transformer substations and redundant power supplies and purchased all the necessary equipment to service the airport and runway. On the second stage, the international flights terminal was reconstructed.

According to the schedule, it is planned to construct terminals for domestic and international flights by 2019. Taking into account the growing passenger traffic, we intend to launch the expansion of the baggage claim area, as the previously available throughput capacity building was not enough for such a large number of passengers, "- the airport director noted.
