Makhachkala, June 24, 2015. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan reports that several logistics centers with a total capacity of 253 thousand tons will be constructed in the republic in 2017.

“Two investment projects on the construction of logistics centers in Karabudakhkent (20 thousand tons) and in Kizlyar (60 thousand tons) districts are being implemented nowadays. Another one designed for 153 thousand tons is planned to be constructed in Karabudakhkent dictrict too” - the ministry representative says.

According to the official, the approximate deadline for putting the logistics center into operation is the end of 2016. "The construction of these logistics centers for storage of vegetables will provide the residents of the republic with domestic agricultural products the whole year round. Now, when the republic authorities pursue the goal of saturation the market with domestic products, it is especially important" – the official added.

In 2014, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food RD, the republic produced about 1.3 million tons of vegetables: 360 thousand tons of potatoes and 108 tonnes of fruits. Currently, the capacity of the operating storage facilities with refrigeration equipment in the republic is about 11 thousand tons. However, Dagestan farmers need to build additional storages with the capacity of at least 150 thousand tons.
