Introducing Dagestan’s new brand considered at discussion platform in House of Friendship

Makhachkala, November 24, 2014. The first Dagestan forum of industrialists and entrepreneurs featured a discussion platform meeting in the House of Friendship to dispute on the territorial brand as a factor increasing the competitiveness of the region.

The discussion brought together Dagestan Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Yussuf Umavov, Dagestan Minister of Press and Information Aznaur Adjiev, sociologists and experts from the St. Petersburg State University, Dagestani entrepreneurs, and other officials.

Yussuf Umavov enlarged on Dagestan brand, "Importantly, we are the first to do the job at the regional level. Dagestan is a pioneer in creating a brand of the region. We’ve done a great work in this area. Most importantly, we did not try to look for something good, but rather, tried to find the negative aspects in order to eliminate them when creating our new brand. We face different kind of informational negativity about the republic. Accordingly, many investors are unwilling to cooperate with us."

Director of the sociological and marketing agency Alexander Noda gave details of the analysis and sociological research of the real situation in the republic. He said Dagestan brand project was the most interesting and extraordinary in the history of the company. They sifted through nearly 15,000 media and public surveys and prepared interviews with Russian and foreign experts to assess the situation.

Alexander Noda advised on how to speak clear and loud about Dagestan in media. To do this, they need to show special programs and talk shows about the republic on central TV channels, promote videos about the region on the Internet, and hold Days of Dagestan in Russian cities starting with million-plus cities.

Another participant Associate Professor with the St. Petersburg State University, Ph.D. Konstantin Krotov noted that Dagestan’s new brand potential lies in its special geographic location, its national cuisine, traditions and nature.

Generally speaking, it was a productive dialogue and constructive exchange of views. Participants from Russia and foreign countries gave their opinion and recommendations on Dagestan and its brand.
