Makhachkala, February 16, 2015. In 2014, the Caspian float glass plant shipped 92,000 tons of glass, the press service of the company told RIA Dagestan. This January, consumers have already received 17,600 more tons.

"More than 10% of the production was shipped to Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. This year, they have signed contracts on both domestic and foreign supply. Currently, we have a full capacity production of M1 and M0 glass suitable for mirrors, car glass, laminated and toughened glass," the source said.

Production is growing, and to develop further, they need to establish their own raw material base in Dagestan and set up quartz sand and dolomite extraction on the territory of the republic, because the 2 substances are the main components used to produce flat glass, which are currently imported.

"Establishing our own resource base will allow the Caspian float glass plant to optimize the costs for producing flat glass, reduce its prime cost, and improve its competitiveness in the market. It will also help us begin addressing long-term goals in manufacturing tinted, energy-saving and solar control glass. Building a mining and processing plant for extracting and processing quartz sand and dolomite will employ more than 150 and increase tax revenues to the budget of the republic"- the plant’s official enlarged.
