Fisheries Forum takes place in Dagestan

Makhachkala, August 17, 2015. Yesterday, August 16, the Fisheries Forum, initiated by Dagestan Head Ramazan Abdulatipov kicked off in Tarumovsky district of Dagestan.

The Forum organizers pursued the goal to discuss the actual problems in the fishing industry and to identify the priority directions of its long-term development. The participants also touched upon the essential issues in fishing communities such as solving social and economic problems of coastal areas, the creation of new jobs and the  provision of Dagestanis with the high-quality fish products.

Having analyzed the current state of the fisheries sector, Dagestan minister of agriculture Battal Battalov pointed out that the provision of state support to enterprises was a key prerequisite for sustainable development of the fisheries sector, taking into account the fact that the commercial fish farming enterprises were not always able to defray costs for the basic types of operations in commercial fish-breeding.

The minister voiced the problems that hinder the development of Dagestan fisheries sector, including environmental, the rise of energy prices, the lack of modern facilities for deep processing of aquatic biological resources and the lack of proper funding for major reclamation works.

In conclusion, the Resolution of the 1st fisheries forum has been adopted. Besides, the Forum participants initiated holding an exhibition-fair for the retail selling of fish products and the demonstration of results of scientific researches.
