Dagestani authorities plan to open a college to train personnel for the tourism industry. The educational institution is expected to become the only such organization in the North Caucasian Federal District.

Against the backdrop of increasing the tourist flow in Dagestan, there appeared an acute shortage of trained middle-level personnel and the blue-collars in tourism. To solve the problem, the regional Ministry for Tourism and Folk Arts started a work to create a specialized college.

“There is a need to create an educational institution of secondary vocational education, which will train middle-level personnel under the programs of the group of specialties “Service and Tourism” and the blue-collar occupations. Currently, the work is underway in this direction. The colledge will become the only such specialized educational institution on the territory of the North Caucasian Federal District” - the Ministry officer said.

The spokesman also reported on approx. 10.3 thousand specialists employed nowadays in the tourism sector in Dagestan. The personnel for the industry are trained in the local branch of the Russian State University of Tourism and Service in Makhachkala, the College of Folk Crafts and Tourism in Derbent, and under different educational programs in the republic.
