Makhachkala, August 18, 2014. Daghestani farmers’ rally chaired by Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov took place in Makhachkala. Participants agreed that as one of the major agricultural Russian regions, Daghestan is set to increase major crops processing production whose import has been banned. Daghestani farmers are ready to offer a variety of products to Russian consumers: meat, dairy, fruits, grapes, rice, canned food, etc.

Head of the "Azamat" farm Magomed Alibulatov commented, "After introducing the ‘Efficient agriculture’ priority development project, farmers have enjoyed assistance and support provided by the state. We are in constant contact with the ministry of trade and investment, the ministry of agriculture and food supply, and Rosselkhozbank who help us promote our products at external markets allowing us to showcase our production. Agricultural products of Daghestani origin are the same quality as the imported ones. They are competitive, environmentally friendly and popular. Sanctions won’t affect us in turn obliging us to produce high-quality competitive products to displace the import. This is our nation's health and our state’s power." -Alibulatov said.

The farmer added that establishing the ministry of trade and investment had been a good decision - in many cities and regional centers, the ministry helped open food markets and find sales areas in Russian regions. "Also, Daghestan office of Rosselkhozbank helps us with loans. We sell our products both in Daghestan, and beyond. Now that the state is interested in increasing agricultural production, we will enhance our production and expand to other markets"- Alibulatov concluded.
