Daghestan tourism development potential is discussed with Daghestani representatives in Russian regions at interregional videoconference

Makhachkala, February 28, 2014. Daghestan tourism development potential was discussed at an interregional videoconference with Daghestan representatives in Russian regions taking place in the conference hall of Daghestan State University’s administration today, February 27.

Executive authorities, local officials, and tourist agents including the heads of travel companies, organizations, spa facilities, recreation centers, hotels, schools, and transport organizations took place in the conference. Through the videoconference, Daghestan representatives in other regions (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Rostov, Tyumen region, Stavropol region, Ingushetia) surrounded by the region’s tourist agents could speak to those in Daghestan.

Opening the conference, the chairman of Daghestan Tourism Committee Magomed Issayev said the Russian Tourism Ministry was willing and ready to support tourist investment sites in Daghestan and to develop the coastal cluster.

He added that Daghestan has a unique climatic, tourist and recreational potential plus a unique cultural and historical heritage. Daghestan allows for all prerequisites for developing various types of tourism - traditional Daghestan summer beaches and health tourism, currently developing winter sports tourism and some extreme leisure activities popular among young people, and much more.

During today's conference, participants presented only a few of the existing projects available for tourists in Daghestan. They are: an inexhaustible source of tourism development - the city of Derbent, travel offers in beach tourism and spa treatment, ethno-cultural, scientific and educational tourism. They also disputed on the role of information technology in forming the regional tourism product.
