Daghestan tourism committee discuss implementation of priority development projects in tourism

Makhachkala, July 24, 2014. Interaction between Daghestan tourism committee and Daghestan municipalities in implementing priority development projects in the tourism sector was the topic discussed at the meeting held in the committee’s office in Makhachkala.

The chairman of the tourism committee Magomed Issayev said that today, the republic's leadership pays much attention to developing tourism, attracting investors, and promoting a positive tourist image of Daghestan. He added that since 2010, much work has been done to establish a special economic zone on the Caspian coastal cluster in some Daghestan municipalities.

Five projects – the "Live spring" water therapy clinic, the "Achikol" hunting and fishing camp, the "Golden dunes" tourist center,  reconstructing the "Golden sands" tourist center, and the "Almak" tourist and recreational fitness complex – are included in Daghestan state program "Developing tourism and recreational complex in Daghestan for 2014-2018".

Magomed Issayev said that the committee’s critical goal was creating and developing modern tourism infrastructure even at the level of municipalities.

Committee’s deputy chairman Muslimat Halimbekova enlarged on implementing priority projects in tourism – on the international tourism forum OPEN DAGESTAN-2014 and establishing a network of "guest houses" with elements of Daghestan peoples’ traditional lifestyle in Daghestan municipalities.

Participants also discussed practical issues of monitoring the health situation at the tourist facilities and attractions in Daghestan municipalities, annual monitoring of indicators of the tourism situation in Daghestan, and developing and certifying new tourist routes in Daghestan as part of implementing the "Silk Road" international historical and cultural project of the CIS countries and China.
