Makhachkala, November 27, 2017. The republican agrarians have planted 1287 hectares of gardens, including almost 620 hectares of intensive type instead of the 1,100 hectares scheduled.

The leaders among the republic’s municipalities are Magaramkent and Kizilyurt districts, where 461 hectares and 169 hectares have been planted, respectively. The intensive gardens planting in Dagestan started in 2011. In comparison with the ordinary type of gardens, the intensive one allows to plant four times more trees per hectare.

The gardening is one of the key directions of agricultural development in Dagestan, being the only source of income for some mountainous and foothill regions of the republic.
