Dagestan prepares conditions for big investments

Makhachkala, March 7, 2017. Last week, the largest Russian region in the Caucasus - Dagestan attracted attention of both domestic and foreign investors. Within the framework of the XVI Russian Investment Forum "Sochi 2017", Dagestan presented several large-scale projects that can turn the region into the flagships of the Russian economy.

The Forum was attended by the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who also got familiarized with the main investment project presented by the head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov. It is a part of the global development plan for the entire Russian Northern Caucasus. The main task is to develop a wide range of enterprises on the shore of the Caspian Sea, which are expected to contribute to the development of the international cruise shipping in the regional basin.

The Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov and the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin touched upon the issues of the regional economic potential at the special meeting. The minister displayed interest in the technology of project management, implemented in Dagestan for several years. This, in Dagestan officials’ opinion allowed to significantly increase the indices of industrial and agricultural production amounting to 138% and 104.7%, respectively.

Within the framework of the Forum, there were also noted some improvements in the sphere of public services in Dagestan. The experts highly appreciated the intention to create a unified payments collection system based on the principle of the "one window" for receiving payments for housing and communal services, the emergence of "Post Bank" in the republic, which is expected to positively affect the development of the banking sector and the active attraction of investments in the military industrial complex, industry and high-tech agriculture.
