Some of Russian nuclear submarines will receive the latest UET-1 electric torpedoes. It is reported that by 2023 the Ministry of Defense intends to purchase more than 70 of these torpedoes. Some projects of nuclear submarines will be equipped with them. The “Ichthyosaur” features improved combat and technical parameters compared to its predecessor, including higher speed, better adjustment capabilities and increased detection range for underwater targets. UET-1 torpedoes are capable of detecting the wake of surface ships and smoothly changing speed. The Dagdiesel plant, located in Dagestan, signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry worth approx. $95 million to supply 73 of these torpedoes. Their trials ended in 2020. In January 2021, the weapon entered service with the RF Armed Forces.
