The gross harvest of rice in Dagestan in 2021 is expected to make 115 thousand tons, which will be a record figure for the republic, the press service of the regional government reports.
It is noted that rice growing for Dagestan is one of the priority areas, which has been gaining momentum in recent years. Over the past five years, the area under this crop has more than doubled and amounted to 25.5 thousand hectares.
“As a result, the gross harvest of rice last year amounted to 111 thousand tons - this is the best result in the history of rice growing in the republic. This year it is planned to boost the production and yield at least 115 thousand tons” - the press release runs. Thus, the sowing area will be increased up to 35 thousand hectares and the production of "white grain" may reach the level of 190 thousand tons.
