Dagestan intends to increase lamb production by 7% in 2023

The cattle breeders look forward for increasing lamb production by 7% in 2023 in Dagestan. The republican Ministry of Agriculture and Food is confident that this task is quite achievable. It is expected that the total volume of lamb production by the end of 2023 will make at least 40 thousand tons.

In 2022 there were produced 37.4 thousand tons. As to Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the regional prime-minister, Dagestan lamb is currently in big demand in the Russian market. The republic's producers focus their attention on the domestic market first.

It should be noted that a little less than half of the mutton produced (almost 15 thousand tons) is exported outside the republic nowadays.
