Dagestan authorities to develop cruise shipping in Caspian Sea

Makhachkala, January 29, 2019. To this end, it is planned to create coastal berthing facilities for receiving passenger cruise ships and customs and logistics terminals in Makhachkala and Derbent. The cruise shipping may soon connect Dagestan with foreign countries - Azerbaijan and Iran. The representatives of the Russian region and the Islamic Republic have agreed on cooperation on this matter. This was announced on Tuesday at the press service in the regional ministry of tourism and folk arts and crafts.

"The negotiations on this took place between the representatives of Iran and Dagestan at the international exhibition of the tourism industry "Fitur-2019" held in Madrid on January 23-29. At the international exhibition Dagestan was represented by the Minister of Tourism and Folk Art Crafts of Rasul Ibrahimov. The parties agreed on closer cooperation in this matter" – the press service official says.

According to the source, Dagestan Ministry "has already executed certain amount of work" for the development of cruise shipping. "As part of the development of maritime cruise and yacht tourism on the coast of the Caspian Sea, the ministry included a number of promising projects in the segment of cruise and yacht tourism - the creation of a yacht club in Makhachkala; the creation of the tourist and recreational complex "Inche Marina Caspian" and the harbor for yachts and boats in Derbent"- the ministry repotrs.

Besides, the state body intends to submit a proposal on holding an International Maritime Forum dedicated to the development of sea tourism on the Caspian Sea coast in 2019 to the government of Dagestan.
