Concern "KEMZ" successfully conducts flight tests of light-engine aircraft MAI-411 in Dagestan

Makhachkala, April 16, 2018. In Dagestan city of Kizlyar, the "Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant" (KEMZ) JSC has successfully conducted flight tests of the light-engine four-seat MAI-411 aircraft developed jointly by the republican enterprise and the design bureau of Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).

"The first MAI-411 aircraft constructed by Kizlyar defense enterprise of Concern KEMZ within the single aircraft specimen certification program has successfully passed the first flight tests. The first 11-minutes flight was performed by the test pilot of the Special Design Bureau MAI Alexander Mitrofanov in the territory of Kizlyar on Cosmonautics Day, April 12.

The spokesman specified that the completion of the flight-design tests is scheduled in June 2018, after which the application will be submitted to the Federal Air Transport Agency for certification in accordance with aviation regulations. The total completion of certification work is scheduled for early 2020.

Earlier the KEMZ managers announced the start of the serial production of aircraft after the completion of the flight tests. A special workshop had already been built on the territory of the plant. All the components of the MAI-411 aircraft, except for the engine, are made in Russia. The engine is Austrian. It is planned to substitute it with the domestic one soon. The implementation of the project to develop the aircraft started about three years ago. The investment portfolio totals to approx. 200 million rubles. In 2017, MAI-411 was presented at MAKS airshow, after which the KEMZ received several preliminary orders.
