Makhachkala, September 17, 2019. Dagestan plant will produce structural fiberglass for Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles. The production of 250 thousand linear meters of structural fiberglass for Avangard (a strategic complex with an intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with a planning hypersonic winged warhead) will be launched in Caspian Glass Fiber Plant Limited Liability Company.

This was announced at the meeting with the Minister for Affairs of the Northern Caucasus Sergey Chebotarev by the founder of the Caspian Composite group of companies Patakhudin Magomedov. “Today, Russia produces 40 thousand linear meters, the rest is produced in Belarus and China. We take it (the production of the required volume of structural fiberglass) on ourselves” – the businessman is quoted saying.

The development of the R-30 Bulava solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) began in the mid-1990s at Moscow Institute of Heat Engineering. The main designers of the rocket were Yuri Solomonov and Alexander Sukhadolsky. The Bulava is designed to equip the nuclear submarines of project 955 Borey, each of which is equipped with 16 launchers.
