Chinese tourism operators to visit barbecue festival in Derbent

Makhachkala, September 21, 2016. The representatives of travel agencies of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation, the journalists of the Russian and Chinese media will visit Dagestan as part of a study tour on the route "Great Silk Road", which starts on September 25. The guests will pay visit to the ancient city of Derbent, the republican Ministry of Tourism and Folk Crafts reports.

The Chinese tour operators in the course of a seven-day trip will get familiarized with the cultural and historical potential of Derbent – the city which joined the crossroads of civilizations, trade and technology exchange in all directions. They will visit the main sight of the city - the citadel Naryn-Kala and try the most delicious meat festival "Kebab-2016."

The bus tour will take place in 7 regions of the Northern Caucasus. The development of the new tourism project implemented to determine the North Caucasian segment of the Great Silk Road, is indicated in the agreement on cooperation signed by Dagestan Ministry of Tourism and Folk Crafts with the regions of the North Caucasian Federal District in March 2016 at "ITM" exhibition.

On the same day, September25, Derbent will host a meeting of the working group on the development of tourism in the North Caucasian Federal District, chaired by the head of the Tourism Ministry Magomed Isayev. The meeting participants are expected to discuss the forms of support for the tourism industry from part of the regional authorities and to establish the concept of tourism development of the region.
