Business Ombudsman of Dagestan takes part in EU seminars in Kaliningrad

Makhachkala, July 22, 2015. The Commissioner for the Protection of entrepreneurs’ rights in the Republic of Dagestan Bashir Magomedov took part in the seminars organized by the Council of Europe in Kaliningrad. The representatives of the Ombudsman under the President of Russia to protect the rights of entrepreneurs, the representatives of the regional commissioners, governments, bar associations, international organizations attended event.

According to the Business Ombudsman of Dagestan Bashir Magomedov, on the first day of the seminar the experts prepared a comparative analysis of Russian and international practices and the criteria of provision of services on the principles of “pro bono”, including the incentives and professional standards.

"The comparative analysis by international experts focused on the examination of international practices and the criteria of provision of services on the principles of "pro bono", while a part of the analysis prepared by the Russian expert, focused on law and practice in the Russian Federation" - Magomedov said.

Then the open discussion proceeded in the form of dialogue with the experts. After that, the lawyers and the representatives of legal associations, the regional commissioners’ offices demonstrated the practical examples of provision of services on the principles of “pro bono”.

On the second day, the seminar participants discussed the legal basis of anti-corruption legislation by the example of Russian and international law, the principles of good corporate governance, the Law on Protection of Competition, the powers of the antitrust authorities and the rights of entrepreneurs. The Business Ombudsman of Dagestan, briefed the participants on some measures to improve the quality of the regulatory environment for business, applicable on the territory of the republic.

Commenting on the seminar, Bashir Magomedov noted that the project developed two manuals: "The corruption risks and mechanisms to protect the rights of entrepreneurs" and "The principles of good corporate governance."
