$ 2 billion - cost of producing 60 million tons of oil on Dagestan area of Caspian shelf

Makhachkala, February 19, 2015. The cost of producing 60 million tons of oil on Dagestan part of the Caspian shelf could reach $ 2 billion, said CEO of Rosneft-Dagneft JSC Muslim Gindiev at the governmental meeting.

He stressed that the four blocks of Dagestan area of the shelf can allow for producing about 400 tons of oil per day. "We’ve done 2D and 3D exploration of this area. But here the Caspian Sea is very deep, and it poses a serious problem," Gindiev said.

Speaking about geological exploration, the CEO noted that only 25% of Dagestan territory has been geologically surveyed, while its fossil fuel rich areas are 90% surveyed.
