MAKHACHKALA, July 22 – RIA "Dagestan". Teacher education is growing in popularity in Dagestan and throughout the country, with more than 75,000 applications already submitted for teaching specialities since the admission campaign began on June 20—a higher number than at the same point last year.
The state steadily invests in teacher training through the "Youth and Children" national project by modernizing schools, building new ones, increasing financial support and expanding professional development and better working conditions. For 2026/27, 37,500 state-funded places are set aside for teacher preparation programs, supplemented by 6,000 places under targeted quotas.
College graduates now have broader access: they can enroll in a related university program via internal exams, bypassing the Unified State Exam, and applications can be filed online through the "University Admission Online" service on "Gosuslugi."
Rasul Gamzatov Dagestan State Pedagogical University, the republican principal teacher training institution, plans to accept more than 1,700 bachelor's candidates and around 350 master's candidates in the upcoming academic year. It offers a diverse array of program—pedagogy, educational psychology, defectology, social work, vocational education and dual-profile courses—with a strong orientation toward modern competences like digital technologies, robotics, foreign languages, inclusive education, psychology, and youth work.
