Trade Turnover at Russian-Azerbaijani Border Increases by 14% Since Start of 2026

MAKHACHKALA, May 20 – RIA Dagestan. Dagestan Customs has recorded an increase in cargo processing volumes at the border with Azerbaijan. Over the first five months of 2026, more than 2.2 million tons of goods passed through road border checkpoints, representing a 14% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the customs press service, between 1,000 and 1,300 trucks cross the border daily. Despite the high traffic intensity, no vehicle congestion has been observed, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Customs Service and the Border Control Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia across the Republic of Dagestan. Particular attention is given to the priority clearance of perishable goods—fresh vegetables and fruits from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran and Georgia.

Noteworthy, the key border multilateral vehicular checkpoints —"Yarag-Kazmalyar" and "Tagirkent-Kazmalyar"— serve as critical links in the North-South International Transport Corridor.
