MAKHACHKALA, August 20 – RIA Dagestan. Daily vehicle capacity at the Tagirkent-Kazmalyar border crossing with Azerbaijan will surge from 600 to 2,360 following a significant infrastructure reconstruction.
The initiative, implemented under the "Efficient Transport System" national project, involves widening the crossing to twenty lanes and building 99 new facilities on-site.
Serving as a crucial artery for the North-South International Transport Corridor, the upgraded checkpoint will incorporate advanced weight and dimension controls alongside two portal inspection systems. Project advancement is currently paused as officials await the final findings of the mandatory environmental review.
