MAKHACHKALA, April 3 – RIA Dagestan. Makhachkala city authorities draft proposals for a comprehensive storm sewer system, estimated to cost RUB 4.8 billion. The move follows repeated flooding in the capital, which has exposed the inadequacy of the current drainage infrastructure during heavy rains.
The planned project includes the design and construction of stormwater collection networks, retention facilities and discharge systems aimed at reducing flood risks in urban areas. Timelines for implementation and potential funding sources—such as federal budget allocations and regional co-financing—are still being discussed.
More detailed information on project specifications and financing is expected after technical assessments and interagency consultations are completed.
