MAKHACHKALA, August 3 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan has maintained its position as a key user of methane motor fuel, entering the national top ten for gas stations and ranking second in the North Caucasian Federal District with 21.54 million cubic meters of natural gas sold in 2025, the "Dagtoplivo" Association reports.
More than 3,500 vehicles run on methane in the region, including 600 buses, 500 trucks and 2,500 passenger cars, with recent additions of 95 new buses and 63 converted units through state support. Sustained demand is linked by experts to Dagestan’s strategic placement on the North–South transport corridor linking Russia to Transcaucasia, Central Asia, Iran and Turkey.
