In 2024, Dagestan farmers sowed rice on the area of more than 34 thousand hectares. This figure became a record for the republic and exceeded last year's figure by 1 thousand hectares.
Ten years ago, the area sown with rice in the region was less than 10 thousand hectares. Since then, thanks to state support and the activity of agricultural producers, additional areas under this grain crop were introduced annually in the republic.
"Only in the period from 2017 to 2023, more than 20 thousand hectares of existing and over 10 thousand hectares of new rice engineering systems were reconstructed", - the local Ministry of Agriculture reports. Besides, over the past 10 years, the rice harvest in Dagestan has quadrupled.
