Construction of Third Access Road to Year-Round Resort Starts in Dagestan

DERBENTSKY DISTRICT, May 25 – RIA Dagestan. Construction of a road connecting the federal highway R-217 "Kavkaz" to the Caspian Coastal Cluster has begun in Derbentsky District as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life". Work is underway on an 8.7-kilometer section that will provide convenient access to one of the region's main tourist destinations.

Representatives of the Public Council under Dagestan's Ministry of Transport and Road Management, accompanied by staff from the State Institution "Dagestanavtodor," visited the site the previous day as part of an inspection. They reviewed the earthworks progress and confirmed adherence to the approved schedule and safety standards.

The project covers all major road construction activities: earthwork preparation, a two-layer asphalt concrete lightweight pavement, installation of drainage pipes and construction of intersections and junctions. Road safety measures will involve traffic signs, barrier guards, delineator posts and horizontal markings. The scope also includes land reclamation and environmental protection. The new road will provide convenient access to beaches, tourist accommodation facilities and other coastal infrastructure.

Notably, under the same national project, two more access roads to the cluster are also under construction: a route to the All-Year Recreation Center "Dagestan" from the R-217 "Kavkaz" federal highway (at the 914th kilometer) and the "Morskoye–Andreyevka" road. All work is expected to be fully completed by December 30, 2027.
