Documentary about doctors who worked during COVID-19 pandemic to be presented in Dagestan

The documentary film "First Fortress" about the heroic deed of Dagestani doctors will be released on May 15 in Dagestan. The film is dedicated to the anniversary of fight against the coronavirus pandemic in Dagestan. The First Fortress is a film about the life of doctors, paramedics, nurses and volunteers who had been working in the “red zone” since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The filmmakers recreated the events of the hot coronavirus spring of 2020 in Dagestan. They tried to show what the past year was like for the hospital staff and what sacrifices they had to make fulfilling their professional duty. The filming process took place in the city clinical hospital of Makhachkala. Director Daniil Chernogortsev, Dagestan journalist Israfil Israfilov, screenwriter Anastasia Ermoshkina, cameraman Alexander Ignatiev and composer Nikolai Mishchenko worked on the film.

“The pandemic has become a huge disaster not only for our country, but for the whole world. In the news, we kept hearing on people who showed special courage during the pandemic - the doctors who fought for each life. In our film we will go to the Republic of Dagestan. We will tell you about doctors and ordinary people and displayed courage and solidarity with each other to join in fight to defeat the disease” – Chernogortsev is quoted as saying. The producer Israfil Israfilov expressed hope that the film would help to learn about the heroic deed of Dagestani doctors.
